You have, possibly, been warned. Belgium-based ArchiStudent site at www.archi-student.org seems to have closed down. Maybe of its own volition. Or, going briefly into delusional mode, could it just be The Curse of Webwatch ? Well of course not. I remember wondering in these pages last year why any sane person would want to spend lots or dosh on students. Talk to advertisers about them needing to nurture future professionals and they fall about helpless with laughter. I haven’t had the skinny on this one but I suspect that it was the usual thing: the promoters hadn’t reckoned on the marginal available construction advertising revenue and the sheer amount of investment needed to run a full-time six-language bells and whistles site including prize competitions and a monthly news feed. Hold on there while we screeeech to a stop. In another of those scary coincidences I have just had an email from Archistudent offering a free ticket to BAU2007. This is the first I have heard from them in nearly a year so either I’ve been rumbled as a cuckoo in the nest and their email list got scrambled. Or nothing much has happened. Or maybe I should get a Mac. Just joking.
